Former tour Professional and PGA of South African member, Michael Scholz, has been involved in the golfing industry for over 30 years in many aspects including event management, player management, golf course advertising and branding, golf event entertainment and development of IT systems for the golfing industry.

Getting involved for a brief stint in supplying golf courses with silica sand for bunkers, Michael soon realised that the biggest problem with bunkers was not actually the sand, but more specifically the limitations and inadequacies of the available bunker liners to protect that sand from contamination and the bunkers themselves from erosion, wear & tear and damage over time.

Along with his partners and expert material providers, he set about creating a totally new type of bunker liner and recognised that a combination of silica sand, fibres and a wax formulation would provide the perfect bunker lining solution.

After 4 years of intensive research, formula modification and stringent testing at some of South Africa’s premiere golf facilities, Bunker Armour® was born!
