Bunker contamination nullified …
Typically bunkers are holes in the ground with some drainage installed and topped up with perfectly white bunker sand.
Over time, the soil that makes up the “canopy” gets wet (from general reticulation) and loose and starts mixing in with that perfectly white sand to make it darker and less appealing.
Stones also lie in the subsoil, so add that into the white sand and a cocktail of problems start emerging.
Then the rain starts to fall stripping the formerly white sand off the bunker faces and the soil and stones start to blend into the already ‘dirty’ sand. Contamination has begun and it’s going to get worse.
Soon the drainage clogs up because of the clay and fine sand particles within the soil contaminant and instead of bunkers you have temporary water hazards filled with coffee brown water.
Bunker Armour® remedies this and you’ll never have to worry about the nightmare above.
Bunker faces, especially steep ones, used to prove problematic …
Bunker Armour® on bunker faces is unmatched in it’s performance.
1. Unlike other bunker liners, Bunker Armour® is sand coloured, thus when exposed, your golfer doesn’t even notice that its the bunker liner that he is seeing.
2. All other bunker liners insist on having copious amounts of sand covering them to avoid exposure (aesthetic and to protect the liner), whereas Bunker Armour® requires little or even none! Thus, the angle of repose (angle at which sand starts to slide due to the forces of gravity) becomes irrelevant.
3. Bunker Armour® can be installed on severe angles with ease. To date we have successfully installed on bunker faces in excess of 50 degrees.
4. After a “wash-out” bunkers are still playable as Bunker Armour® provides for both natural looking aesthetics, a bunker still playable and absolutely no danger to golfer or machinery as the product isn’t hard, thus no ricochets, exposed hard surfaces etc.
5. If hard-edging the bunker edges has caused you to “grow” the bunker and the edge moves beyond the bunker liner installation line, with Bunker Armour® this can be easily and quickly repaired by your own turf team.
6. Bunker Armour® is installed as a thick layer, so can not only withstand incredible impact from equipment, but also offers unsurpassed protection against subsoil contamination.
Washout! – Arguably the turf manager’s worst word …
After significant rainstorms, bunker washouts are commonplace at golf courses.
Unfortunately the remedy for washouts when bunkers are not fitted with effective bunker liners is tedious, time consuming and labourious.
With Bunker Armour®, it’s a job made easy and all that is required is a good bout of raking to redistribute the bunker sand back to normal.
Unless there is a medium that causes debris to wash into the bunker i.e. leaves from trees or perhaps a river overflowing into the bunker, this would be the only requirement to return your bunkers back to perfect.
It is imperative for bunkers to drain quickly ….
The drainage solution included in our Bunker Armour® solution is unsurpassed and not only drains superbly quickly, but offers ongoing, long-term consistency in draining bunkers.
Our Drainbinder product is the future of bunker drainage, with no membrane being required. Instead, Drainbinder glues the drainage aggregate together that no stone will become dislodged.
UV protected and super-strong, our Drainbinder can withstand even the most brutal impact (angry golfer or heavy equipment) and offers years of unmatched performance.
With the Bunker Armour® product, there is also no contamination from within the confines of the bunker itself, i.e. from the sub-soil or bunker lips and any external contamination such as foliage, leaves etc. that may flow into the bunker via surface water are easily removed from the bunkers after storms.
In fact, our Bunker Armour® bunkers drain so well, that we have been told they drain “too quickly”. What a great problem to have!
Clean ups are easy and painless and the bunkers are perfectly playable and aesthetically beautiful almost immediately.
